Have you ever wanted to make a quilt, but found the idea of starting daunting?
Do you have old clothes you love, but you never wear them and you want to find a way to breathe new life into them?
Do you have a fabric collection that you don’t know what to do with?
Do you see some quilts and think, wow, that is so many straight lines. What if I want my lines to be wiggly?
If this sounds like you, come and learn how to scrap quilt with Fiona and Ruby from the World’s Worst Wagga!
In this day-long intensive you will learn a range of patchwork and quilting techniques. We will cover quilting history, hand sewing techniques, hand quilting and tying, binding and signing your quilt.
This course is suitable for beginners – you don’t need to have sewn anything before to be able to keep up!
All materials will be provided, however you may bring special or sentimental fabric to incorporate into your quilt.

Quilt in a Day!
In this workshop we will be making a quilt in a day! We will be learning a mix of improv quilting, a quilt-as-you-go ‘log cabin’ technique and applique to finish a 1m by 1m quilt by the end of the day. This session is perfect if you want to learn heaps of quilting skills, but don’t want another unfinished project to add to your mending pile!
Please note the focus of this session is to complete a quilt in a day, so we need to keep closer to the set schedule and there is less time to play with design. However if you aren’t worried about finishing your quilt in the workshop then you are invited to play with patchwork all day instead!
Agenda:
❀ 10am – 12pm – Learning the basics of improv patchwork and making a mini patchwork – the centerpiece of our quilts!
❀ 12-12:30pm – Lunch (provided)
❀ 12.30pm – 2pm – We will teach you a quilt-as-you-go patchwork technique with which we will begin to build the composition of our quilts!
❀ 2-2.30pm – Afternoon tea (provided)
❀ 2.30pm – 4pm – We will teach you how to bind your quilt, embroider and sign your quilt!

What you will come away with:
❀ Knowledge of basic quilting techniques (improv, blocks, stitches, binding and others)!
❀ Understanding of history of scrap quilting and what is a ‘wagga’!
❀ A take home zine with the skills you have learnt!
❀ 1 x 1m quilt made by you!
❀ New friends!
❀ A deep sense of self satisfaction!
❀ Join the World’s Worst Wagga Guild!
